Day 02 Semera – Afdera – Hamed Ela
Early morning departure from Semera by 4x4 vehicle into the Afar lowlands. Drive to Lake Afdera, known for its salt flats and active salt extraction. Stop for lunch and short walks around the lake.
Continue driving across the desert to Hamed Ela, a remote Afar settlement.
In the late afternoon, visit the sunset salt flats and observe Afar people working with traditional methods.

Day 02: Hamed Ela – Dallol – Erta Ale
Early morning drive to Dallol to explore its colorful sulfur springs, salt formations, and hydrothermal fields. Walk through the salt canyons and acid pools with a local guide.
After the visit, return to Hamed Ela for lunch and rest.
In the afternoon, drive toward Erta Ale Volcano.
Late evening hike to the Erta Ale crater to view the active lava lake.
Overnight camping near Erta Ale. -
Day 03: Erta Ale – Afdera – Semera
Early morning descent from Erta Ale. Breakfast near the camp.
Drive back through the Afar desert via Afdera.
Arrive in Semera in the late afternoon.
End of the expedition.
